Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026. By using ClariDoc you agree to these terms.

1. The service

ClariDoc is an AI-powered tool that summarises and explains documents. Output is informational and is not legal, tax, medical or financial advice. ClariDoc helps you understand and organise documents, but AI can make mistakes — important financial, legal, medical or contractual information should always be checked against the original document and, where appropriate, with a qualified professional.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity on your account. Household members added under a Pro plan act under the account owner.

3. Acceptable use

  • Don't upload content you don't have the right to share.
  • Don't attempt to reverse engineer, resell or abuse the service.
  • Don't upload malware or attempt to break platform security.

4. Subscriptions and billing

Paid plans renew monthly via Stripe until cancelled. You can cancel any time from Billing. Refunds are handled as described in the next section.

5. Refunds, Cancellations & Subscription Payments

Free Plan

ClariDoc offers a Free plan so that users can try the Service before purchasing a paid subscription.

We encourage users to use the Free plan to decide whether ClariDoc is suitable for their needs before upgrading to a paid plan.

Paid Subscriptions

Paid ClariDoc subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the subscription selected.

By purchasing a subscription, you authorise ClariDoc and its payment provider to charge your selected payment method at the beginning of each billing period until the subscription is cancelled.

Cancelling Your Subscription

You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account or billing settings.

Unless otherwise stated or required by law:

  • Cancellation prevents future subscription renewals.
  • You will normally retain access to your paid plan until the end of the current paid billing period.
  • Your account may then revert to the Free plan and its applicable limits.

Cancelling a subscription does not automatically entitle you to a refund for the unused portion of an existing billing period.

Refunds

Except where required by applicable law, payments for ClariDoc subscriptions are generally non-refundable once the relevant billing period has begun.

We do not normally provide refunds because:

  • You changed your mind after using the Service.
  • You did not use some or all of your monthly AI Analyses.
  • You did not use your available document storage.
  • You did not use the Service during part of the billing period.
  • You forgot to cancel before a renewal payment.
  • You no longer require the Service.

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights you may have.

Exceptional Refunds

We may consider a full or partial refund where appropriate, including where:

  • You were charged more than once for the same purchase.
  • An incorrect payment was taken because of an error by us.
  • A significant technical problem caused by ClariDoc prevented you from accessing the paid Service for an extended period.
  • A payment was taken after a valid cancellation because of an error by us.
  • A refund is required by applicable law.

Refund requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

AI Analysis Add-Ons

ClariDoc may allow eligible paid subscribers to purchase additional AI Analysis credits as one-off purchases.

These add-ons do not automatically renew.

Except where required by law, AI Analysis add-on purchases are generally non-refundable once purchased, particularly where some or all of the purchased AI Analyses have already been used.

Where a qualifying refund is issued for unused add-on credits, the corresponding credits may be removed from your account.

Immediate Access to ClariDoc

When purchasing a paid subscription or AI Analysis add-on, you may receive access to the relevant digital service immediately.

Where required by law, we may ask you to expressly request immediate performance of the Service and acknowledge how this affects your statutory cancellation rights.

Statutory Cancellation Rights

Consumers may have statutory cancellation rights when entering into a subscription online.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove, restrict or replace rights that you are legally entitled to exercise.

Where statutory cancellation or refund rights apply, ClariDoc will comply with those requirements.

Failed Payments

If a subscription payment cannot be collected, we may:

  • Retry the payment.
  • Temporarily restrict paid functionality.
  • Suspend the subscription.
  • Return the account to the Free plan.

Your stored documents should not automatically be deleted solely because a subscription payment fails.

Applicable account and storage limits may, however, prevent further uploads until the account is brought back within its permitted allowance.

Upgrades and Downgrades

You may upgrade or downgrade your subscription subject to the options available within your account.

Charges or credits associated with a plan change may be calculated by our payment provider.

Where you downgrade, the new limits may apply from the beginning of the next billing period unless otherwise stated.

Existing documents should not automatically be deleted because of a downgrade.

However, you may be unable to upload additional documents until your account is within the limits of your new plan.

Contacting Us About a Payment

If you believe you have been charged incorrectly or have a question about a refund, please contact us at:

Email: hello@claridoc.app

Please provide sufficient information for us to identify the relevant account and transaction. We aim to review billing enquiries promptly.

6. AI output

AI analysis can be wrong. Always verify important decisions (deadlines, amounts, legal obligations) against the original document and a qualified professional where appropriate.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can close your account at any time.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ClariDoc is provided "as is". Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
